Why is hearing important?

Hearing allows people to socialise, work, enjoy entertainment and communicate with family and friends. It can also alert people to potential risks signalled by sirens and alarms.

Can hearing loss be treated?

The human ear is quite a piece of engineering: bones and nerves cells all working together to pick up and process precious sounds.  Any disruption to this delicate system can result in a hearing loss.  Depending on the type of hearing loss, it may be treated with medications, surgery, hearing aids or other hearing solutions.
