Our Services for Stakeholders

Hearing Australia’s First Nations Services work with over 300 services across Australia to develop culturally safe strategies to enhance ear health and hearing outcomes in community. 

Our services are provided by qualified audiologists and Clinical Community Advisors and are available in-person or via Telehealth. We are committed to working in partnership with First Nations leaders and communities to ensure our services are culturally safe and free from racism.  

What services we provide: 

Strategy and capability

A dedicated contact person will work with you to:

  • Develop a Shared Hearing Services Agreement.
  • Co-design a customised ear and hearing health program to meet the needs of your service and community,
  • Agree on the sharing of data.
  • Assist with establishing or enhancing referral pathways.

Workforce

Assistance in building capability to locally manage ear and hearing health. Includes: Clinical supervision, training and professional development opportunities; access to online resources and one-on-one support; access to a clinical support line; access to a community of interest with regular updates on the latest research, webinars and newsletters.

Clinical

Delivery of hearing services for funded and unfunded clients. Includes diagnostic hearing tests, fitting of hearing devices and advice.

Can be delivered within community health services and visiting sites such as GPs, pharmacies, schools, and community events.

Advocacy

Supporting and recommending calls for change to improve ear health and hearing outcomes for First Nations Australians. This may include policy settings that impede the provision of continuous care or reduce access to services and supports necessary to drive positive change.

First Nations Support Line 

For general support and enquiries on ear and hearing health and more information on our services you can call our Support Line on 134 432 option 4 to speak with an audiologist. 

The support line is free for Health and education providers that work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples or for community who identify as Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander. The Support Line excludes over the phone hearing assessment services or clinical consultation. Other services may attract fees.
